Where we started

Fifth Day began supplying avian identification equipment around 2002. The company was born out of our frustration of trying to get good banding equipment in New Zealand. At the time, there wasn’t any.

We worked hard to solve this problem, and now we are New Zealand’s largest supplier of leg bands.

Since those early days, things have really taken off. Amongst our customers we have clubs, major breeders, commercial breeders, regional councils, government departments and wildlife parks.

Our mission now is to bring the largest selection of leg bands to New Zealand and Australia.

As the business has grown, so has our range of equipment. New Zealand has been poorly served due to our small population, and as a result, we have sought to find hard-to-find quality products at reasonable prices. We stand behind our products; we don’t sell junk, and most of the equipment we sell we use ourselves. We are birdy people, and have bred Shavers, Silkies, Pekins, Quail, Finches, and Canaries, so we know what works.
